Ray and Chris are supported by a staff that includes water treatment plant operators, meter staff, water & sewer utility workers, caretakers, and equipment operators. This City’s utility operations are the most complex operations managed by the Public Works Department, and include managing the City’s state of the art Water Treatment Plant which was constructed in 2004 at a cost of approximately $60 million dollars. The water operations also include six reservoirs, three large volume water storage tanks, six pumping stations, three well fields, 6,000 acres of watershed land, 271 miles of pipe, 1,852 hydrants, and water meters serving over 17,500 customers. In addition to the water operations, the Utility Division also manages operations related to City’s sanitary and storm water utilities which involve over 5,400 catch basins, manholes, and over 350 miles of pipe.
The Utilities Department is commonly referred to as the City's "Water Department."
