New Britain EMS - Serving for Life

Since its inception in 1977, New Britain Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has grown to become a premier community based 911 service provider in the State of Connecticut. New Britain EMS dedicates itself to providing timely, quality emergency medical care and transportation within the City of New Britain. In 2024 we responded to 16,644 - 911 requests for medical assistance. We treated over 16,500 patients who join a growing list of over 475,000 patients treated since 1977.

Operations

New Britain EMS is authorized to function as a Certified Ambulance Service by the State of Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS). New Britain EMS is the designated 911 ambulance service and designated paramedic level service provider for the City of New Britain. As a certified ambulance provider, New Britain EMS is limited to providing emergency services only and is restricted by State Regulation from providing other formats of medical transportation.

To fulfill our obligation to the City, New Britain EMS dedicates three ambulances 24 hours per day, and one additional ambulance from 08:00am until 01:00am. In addition to the ambulances, a paramedic supervisor is on duty 24 hour per day. These ambulances are staffed and equipped to provide paramedic level care twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. Each ambulance assigned to 911 duty responds to more than 4,400 calls each year.
