Mayor Stewart Announces New Britain Arts and Cultural Organizations (NBACO) 2021 State Grant Program
New Britain, CT – The Honorable Mayor Erin Stewart, and The New Britain Commission on the Arts are pleased to announce the New Britain Arts and Cultural Organizations (NBACO) 2021 State Grant Program. This year NBACO grant application process will be shortened, but new and previous grantees are encouraged to apply.
The legislative intent of this state funded grant is to support and strengthen arts organizations in New Britain, so that they can more effectively enhance the well-being of the community, and to support the small organizations that have greater difficulty obtaining funds. The grant was made possible through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development’s Connecticut Office of the Arts Directed Local Funds Grant.
Funds may be used for operational, programming or marketing. Applicants may ask for up to $3,000, provided the requested amount is less than 20% of their actual revenue from the previous fiscal year. Applicants must have an operating budget for the current fiscal year approved by the organization’s governing board, a financial statement from the previous fiscal year approved by the organization’s governing board and submit a completed application form and all requested materials.
Previous grantees have had a variety of focus like the Queen Ann Nzinga Center, the Hole in the Wall Theater, the Industrial Museum, the Main Street Children’s Choir and the New Britain Museum of American Art, just to name a few. As always, previous grantees are encouraged to apply, but hopefully every eligible arts or cultural organization in the City of New Britain will apply for funding.
Organizations that are not based in New Britain or who do not have the arts as the main focus of their activity; government entities; schools; individual artists and performances or festivals not associated with a New Britain arts organization and not eligible to apply for the NBACO grant.
The submission deadline for the NBACO grant is Friday June 25th at 4:30pm. For more information how you can apply, a full list of eligibility and requirements, please contact Brock Weber at Brock.Weber@newbritainct.gov.
