School Building Committee
The School Building Committee is an appointed body to oversee school building projects authorized through Bond Funding as approved by the New Britain Common Council. Once the school district completes a feasibility study regarding building additions or renovations and approves the design specifications for school building additions or renovations the School Building Committee works with architects and construction managers to ensure that the structure is competed per the approved specifications. The School District’s Department of Facilities Management provides clerical support to the School Building Committee and maintains all contracts, architectural plans, invoices, documents and meeting minutes as the permanent keeper of records. Over the last twenty years, the School Building Committee has managed renovations/construction to more than a dozen school buildings at a cost of $600 million, always bringing in the projects on time and under budget.
