City of New Britain Partners with Local Manufacturing Companies to Vaccinate Employees

New Britain, CT – Mayor Erin E. Stewart and City of New Britain Health Director Sergio Lupo recently announced the City’s ongoing efforts to partner with local manufacturing companies to vaccinate their employees. This initiative has been executed with help from the City of New Britain’s Economic Development Department and Community Health Center, Inc.

“Vaccination against the COVID-19 virus is the only way we will be able to get through this pandemic and return to some form of normalcy,” said Mayor Erin E. Stewart. “This program allows local manufacturers to provide the hundreds of individuals who work in their facilities the option of getting the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Through the first phase of this initiative, the City has been able to vaccinate 76 employees from local manufacturing companies. Participating companies include Day Machine System, Acme Monaco, Stone Valley Granite, DSO, Creed Monarch, K&R Precision Grinding, Northeast Metal and OKAY Industries. On Friday City Health Department staff is scheduled to go to Polamer Precision and vaccinate approximately 20 employees. The City of New Britain Health Department will be returning to these businesses beginning June 1st to administer second doses to participating employees.

“Since the moment vaccines became available, the City has been working tirelessly to vaccinate as many people as possible,” said Sergio Lupo, Director of the New Britain Health Department. “This partnership with our local manufacturing companies and Community Health Center allows us to continue this effort by providing their employees who are interested with easy access to the COVID-19 vaccine.”

The City’s Health and Economic Development Departments have plans to expand this initiative and bring it to businesses city wide through partnerships with the Downtown District and Hartford Healthcare.
