MAYOR STEWART ANNOUNCES AID TO CITY RESIDENTS DEALING WITH STORM DEBRIS

NEW BRITAIN – Mayor Erin Stewart announced today that city residents may utilize the City of New Britain Recycling Center to dispose of debris left by Tropical Storm Isaias without charge. The recycling center, located at 642 Christian Lane, will accept storm debris starting tomorrow August 7th through August 14th, 2020.

“This was quite the storm,” said Mayor Stewart. “We thought it was important to help out our residents who are dealing with the burden of clean-up. Any New Britain resident, who presents proof off residency, can utilize our recycling center for the next week at no charge.”

Mayor Stewart continued, “Furthermore, I am happy to report that City clean-up operations – clearing our roads and sidewalks of debris, are moving at a rapid pace and are coming along nicely. Now if we could just get Eversource to do their job, we’d be in great shape. Unfortunately, it seems that Eversource’s response to this storm is sub-par to say the least; they were completely unprepared and many of our residents, including myself, are still in the dark as a result.”

The New Britain Recycling Center is located at 642 Christian Lane and operates between the hours of 7am to 3pm. They will have expanded hours this Saturday, August 8th (7am – 6pm) and next Thursday, August 13th (7am – 8pm). They will be closed on Sunday, August 9th.
