Ribbon Cutting for New Seafood Restaurant in New Britain

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 14, 2019

WHAT: Mayor Erin Stewart will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 15, to mark the recent opening of the Clam Box, a new seafood restaurant operated by Nicholas Augustino—the owner of the City’s famed Eastside Restaurant.

WHEN: Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: 586 W. Main St., New Britain, Conn.

WHO:

Mayor Erin Stewart

Bill Carroll, Director of Economic Development

Nicholas Augustino, Owner

BACKGROUND:
The idea and recipes for the Clam Box were inspired by Augustino’s time working at the old Wethersfield Clam Box, which opened on the Silas Deane Highway in 1965. Augustino purchased 586 West Main St., which was most recently home to West Side Tavern, in 2018.

The menu consists of fresh seafood-related items, including New England clam chowder, oysters on the half shell, fish and chips, whole belly clams, shrimp, lobster rolls, and more. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday) and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Friday and Saturday). “It’s exciting to see a current business owner expand their operations here in New Britain,” said Mayor Stewart. “It’s a sign that business owners feel confident about the direction of our City and see room for growth. We are proud to welcome the Clam Box to our wide array of dining options here in New Britain.”
