CITY LAUNCHES NEW COMMUNITY-POLICING WEBSITE: “SolveIT NB”
NEW BRITAIN—Mayor Erin E. Stewart is proud to announce the launch of a new interactivecommunity policing website aimed at helping residents and business owners submit anonymous tipsto help solve crimes and cold cases.
The program, called SolveIt NB, is accessible via smartphones and computers at SolveItNB.city, wasdeveloped over the last several months in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and under the guidanceof the New Britain Police Department.
On the website, individuals can scroll through a digital bulletin of open cases that officials need helpsolving. Individuals can submit anonymous tips, photos, documents, and video footage directlythrough the website.
“While we have some of the finest and friendliest police officers around, we know that individuals areoften apprehensive about approaching the police and sharing a concern,” said Mayor Stewart. “We area close knit community made up of conscientious individuals who are the eyes and ears of ourneighborhoods. With the prevalence of smartphones and the launch of SolveIt NB, we will haveadditional tools to help solve crimes and to strengthen the safety in our community.”
“The New Britain Police Department is eager to partner with Mayor Stewart and the rest of ourcommunity to tackle crime,” said Chief James Wardwell. “The strength of today’s technologycombined with the willingness of this community to work together makes SoveItNB such a welcomeand positive initiative.”
The new website is now live and will be introduced to the City’s three Neighborhood RevitalizationZone (NRZ) presidents in an effort to spread awareness to community partners.
